Chronic Venus Insufficiency Ultrasound (CVI)

CVI Imaging

Vein mapping is a non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound procedure used to evaluate the veins in the legs for chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). During the test, high-frequency sound waves are used to create detailed images of the veins, allowing the physician to assess the structure, size, and function of the veins, including the presence of any reflux, blockages, or abnormalities. The procedure typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes and is performed while the patient is lying down or standing, depending on the specific area being examined. The patient can expect minimal discomfort, as the test involves the application of a warm gel and a transducer probe on the skin. The results from vein mapping help determine the most appropriate treatment plan for managing CVI

Ultrasound Preparation:

•Avoid caffeine for 24 hours prior to the procedure.

•Do not wear compression stockings for 24 hours before the procedure, but be sure to bring them with you.
