Holter Monitoring

Holters are heart monitors and are used to measure heart activity and palpitations over 24 hours.

Holters measure irregular electrical activity that would be unnoticeable in a short in-office period.

Our monitors are very small and state of the art and easy to wear.

How to prepare for your test:

Shower before the monitor is applied so that your body is clear of body oils. Don’t use perfumes or lotions as they can cause the adhesives to peel off. Tell your provider or technician if you are allergic to any tape or other adhesives. You should continue your normal activities while wearing the monitor. Keep a diary of what activities you do while wearing the monitor, how you feel and any symptoms you have.

The monitoring staff will tell you how to transfer data over the telephone and set up your monitor depending on which monitor you have.

While wearing the device, you may be asked to avoid certain things that can disrupt the signal between the sensors and the monitor. These may include:

Cell phones
Electric blankets
Electric toothbrushes
High-voltage areas
Magnets
Metal detectors

Please do not apply lotion, creams, or sunscreen to your chest for 24 hours before Holter test
